As the Startimes Uganda Premier League matchday nineteen comes to a close today, SC Villa hosts Maroons FC at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
The reigning champions are desperate for maximum points and seeking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to UPDF FC in their previous encounter.
Maroons FC, on the other hand, is eyeing its first-ever away victory against Villa and its first win of the second round.
The visitors played to a goalless draw against KCCA FC at home in their last league game.
In the reverse fixture, Jackson Nunda’s late equalizer cancelled out David Owori’s early first-half goal.
In the previous 10 meetings between the two sides, Villa has dominated with five wins, four draws, and only one loss.
Last season, Villa edged Maroons 2-1 at home, courtesy of Patrick Jonah Kakande’s brace, while Fred Amaku scored the consolation goal.
Both Villa and Maroons are currently locked in 8th and 10th positions, respectively, with 24 points each. A win for either side would narrow the gap to the top four to just three points
.
Ahead of the match, SC Villa will be without the services of Arnold Odong and Aslam Ssemakula, who are ruled out due to injury. However, Elvis Ngonde is set to make a return to the team, providing a boost to their squad.
Maroons FC, meanwhile, will still be without Darius Ojok, who remains sidelined with an injury. On a positive note, Rogers Kiwanuka returns from suspension and is expected to feature in the match
